THE WHAT? Bath & Body Works has reported its results for the second quarter of 2023. The US retailer reported net sales of US$1.559 billion, down 3.6 percent on the equivalent period last year. Earnings per diluted share stood at US$0.43, compared to US$0.52 for the same quarter last year.
THE DETAILS The company updated its full-year forecast to reflect the better-than-expected bottom line results. Bath & Body Works is now forecasting full-year 2023 EPS to be between US$2.85 and US$3.15 and net sales to decline in the region of 1.5 percent to 3.5 percent.

Gina Boswell, CEO of Bath & Body Works, commented, “We delivered net sales in line with our expectations, and the early benefits of our cost optimization and merchandise margin improvement initiatives helped drive earnings which outperformed our expectations.
