THE WHAT? Procter & Gamble has announced its results for the first quarter of fiscal 2024. The US FMCG manufacturer reported net sales of US$21.9 billion, up 6 percent versus the prior-year period (+7 percent in organic terms). Diluted net earnings per share rose 17 percent, hitting US$1.83.

THE DETAILS The organic sales increase was driven by a seven percent increase from higher pricing and one percent increase due to favorable product mix, partially offset by a one percent decrease in shipment volumes.

In terms of category, Health Care led the charge with an 11 percent increase in net sales, followed by Fabric & Home Care, which rose 8 percent. Grooming delivered a 6 percent jump; Baby, Feminine & Family Care leapt 5 percent and Beauty bought up the rear, inching up 3 percent.
