THE DETAILS The South Korean retail group plans to introduce Dolce & Gabbana’s fragrances and makeup line to the South Korean market. Shinsegae will sell the products on its online platform, Sivillage, and offline channels, including stores like Chicor and Olive Young. The company also intends to open exclusive Dolce & Gabbana stores in major department stores and duty-free shops within the country.

THE WHY?  Shinsegae aims to expand its business using the well-known Dolce & Gabbana brand name and its experience operating imported brands. The company continues to seek and introduce new brands to enhance its cosmetics business. The new deal and the earlier appointment of a new CEO, William Kim, are parts of this expansion strategy.
