THE WHAT? JP Morgan Payments has announced that it is launching Tap to Pay on iPhone for its US clients –Sephora will be the first to roll out the new capability across its US freestanding stores. The technology allows merchants to accept contactless payments from iPhone users without a physical terminal.
THE DETAILS Sephora’s Beauty Advisors will be able to accept credit and debit cards, Apple Pay and other digital wallets anywhere in store via their iPhones and the Point of Sale App, meaning shoppers will be able to engage and pay anywhere with WiFi or cell service for a seamless checkout experience.
THE WHY? Stefan Jensen, Vice President, Treasurer, at Sephora, noted, “Sephora operates with a customer-first mindset, and our goal is to provide an elevated shopping experience in all of the ways that our beauty community chooses to shop with us. Tap to Pay on iPhone allows our Beauty Advisors to complete contactless transactions easily with only an iPhone—anywhere in the store. It’s a win-win: our customers get a transparent and secure transaction without waiting in a long queue, and our Beauty Advisors have more freedom to build meaningful connections with our shoppers.”
