THE WHAT? MAC Cosmetics is hoping to catch the attention of young millennial or Gen Z, multi-ethnic consumers with its latest launch. The Estee Lauder Companies-owned make-up brand is launching a new range of foundations with an 80 percent serum base, designed to offer lighter coverage for radiant skin.

THE DETAILS The skin care adjacent foundation will be available in 56 shades, according to a report published by WWD. The brand has plans to roll out this hybrid approach to other core categories too – the first half of 2024 will see the launch of lip products boasting skin care ingredients.

THE WHY? Rachel Lockett, MAC’s Vice President of Marketing, told WWD, “At this point, skinification has touched nearly every category. Face is where we’re starting most intuitively but we’re looking to bring it across a lot of our portfolio.”
